Science and language and literacy (including reading, writing, listening, and speaking) come together in NGSS classrooms as students engage with SEP #8: Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information. With these high student language and literacy demands, it can be hard to know how to engage the entire class in the kinds of communication necessary for figuring out natural phenomena. Drawing on ongoing research using free NGSS-aligned Carbon TIME units, this session will help you support your students in accessing and using science language and science literacy practices successfully.
